About LIUNA Local 383

Who We Are

Local 383 is based in Phoenix, Arizona and was chartered on April 4, 1927.Local 383 represents members in the field of Construction, Production and Maintenance throughout the copper state. Whether it's building and maintaining infrastructure or expanding Arizona's skyline, Local 383 members are equipped with the skill set to get the job done on time, on budget and compliant to safety standards. We pride ourselves on collaborative, efficient business relations that build strong employers partnerships.

What We Do

Local 383 members specialize in, but are not limited to, building bridges, roads and highways, power plants (coal and renewables), water treatment facilities, pipelines – (water, oil, gas) and commercial buildings. Our service contract member's working at Davis-Monthan AFB and Luke AFB maintain the clinic that cares for our soldiers and the technical order library that provides vital information flowing to our soldiers keeping them safe.

Laborers perform the work that keeps buildings safe by removing hazardous materials such as asbestos and lead.  Laborers serve the public in an administrative capacity in the areas of law enforcement, hospitals, colleges, universities and various government agencies throughout North America.  Laborers are employed in movie studios, manufacturing factories, food processing plants, maritime, recycling, home improvement, maintenance and other core industrial jobs.

Local 383 is an affiliate of LIUNA- the Laborers' International Union of North America- the most progressive, aggressive, and fastest-growing union of construction workers, and one of the most diverse and effective unions representing public service employees. 

Affiliates to the International are nine regions, 55 district councils, and more than 500 local unions. and the Local Union Executive Board. LIUNA Regional Managers and International Representatives belonging to the nine Regional Offices provide assistance to the District Councils and Local Unions within their regions, and represent the International to each.

From 8,000 members in 1903 to more than 500,000 today, the Laborer's Union continues to embrace workers from all occupations throughout Canada and the United States. LIUNA represents a half million working men and women who demand a living wage, decent health benefits, safer jobsites, more successful employers and a unified voice for working people across North America!
